œSTREET SCENE AT LUGGAGE STORE GALLERY
FILMS FROM THE GROUND-UP BY SF CITY COLLEGE STUDENTS
SAN FRANCISCO, CA Street Scene, a one-night program of recent films about Bay Area life as seen through the lens of City College of San Francisco Cinema students, screens on Friday, May 24, 7:00pm at The Luggage Store Gallery, 1007 Market Street.
Street Scene is an exciting mix of nine short films from up and coming makers who are plugged into the community in interesting and diverse ways. Films range from a narrative about a disillusioned artist in Scott Dietrich™s The Opening to a first-hand history of the local experimental music scene in Ian Ullibarri™s Commercial Free, as well as the award-winning Bleeding Out by Michaela Higgins and Miko Revereza™s haunting and poetic examination of commuters in transit: People of the Trains.
The films are fierce, inventive, and a tribute to the resourcefulness of the filmmakers. œWhat we lack in resources, we make up for in creativity and spirit, says Dina Ciraulo, instructor in the Cinema Department. œI’m incredibly proud of what the students have accomplished.
Filmmakers will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening. Five dollar suggested donation at the door.
