8:15pm: Toaster
8:45pm: Matt Davignon (drum machine)
9:30pm: Jim Kaiser

Toaster is the solo project of Todd Elliott, who makes music by programming things, and occasionally other methods– his live sets are focused around improvised drones. His latest record “Theophany”, along with many others, can be found at : http://toaster.bandcamp.com

Matt Davignon is an experimental musician living in Oakland, California, best known for combining drum machine with a variety of electronic processing devices to create an expressive, organic-sounding synthesizer. His work is informed by past experience with field recordings, household objects, prepared instruments and live sound collage. In addition to his solo work, Matt is a member of the band Tiny Owl (http://tinyowl.bandcamp.com), and is the founder of the Pmocatat Ensemble, a group that performs on CD and tape recordings of their instruments. His fourth CD for the drum machine, called “The 3am Music” was released in June 2013. http://mattdavignon.bandcamp.com

8:00pm The Voice of the Octagon saxophone/bass/laptop
9:00pm Elements Saxophone ntet
Josh Allen, Aaron Bennett, Rent Romus, David Slusser, Aram Shelton

The Voice of the Octagon is a San Francisco-Based duo featuring Katja on sax and Ted on bass, in addition to both of us improvising on a pair of MIDI-synchronized laptops, and one Prophet 600 from the dark ages of MIDI.
The music is completely unplanned and a performance can go in just about any direction. They are both big fans of classic jazz, as well as being jazz musicians, and they’re sound starts with research. Hours are spent listening to classic jazz recordings looking for parts of songs they might want to incorporate into the performance.
